Grimsby vs Gateshead: Mariners march on
Grimsby extended their unbeaten run to nine Blue Square Bet Premier matches with a 3-0 home win over Gateshead.
Derek Niven set the Mariners on their way to a third win in four games with his first goal for the club after 13 minutes. The summer signing collected Nathan Pond's pass before beating Gateshead goalkeeper Adam Bartlett from 12 yards out.
Pond doubled the lead seven minutes later, turning in Joe Colbeck's left-wing cross from close range.
Ryan Donaldson might have got Gateshead back in the game early in the second half but he missed the target from six yards out.
