PAUL Hurst has urged Grimsby Town to maintain their momentum ahead of tonight's tough trip to AFC Barrow.

After watching his side click into gear with strong showings against Wrexham, Mansfield and Hereford on Saturday, the joint boss has underlined the importance of maintaining their performance levels and concentration.

Seven points from those three matches have put the Mariners back in touch with the Blue Square Bet Premier play-off spots.

Speaking ahead of a game which will see Town hit the road for their second 200-mile trip in five days, Hurst said: "It will be another tough game tonight against a tough team.

"It's another long journey after what was a long journey home for the lads before the game on Saturday .

"We have to go there and keep the commitment levels as high as they are now – keep playing well as we are and we'll give ourselves a chance.

"We're looking as though we're going to score goals and that's really pleasing because that was a big question against us."

He added: "Barrow is always a difficult place to go and it will be no different tonight.

"They haven't had a particularly great start but drew at home to Kid derminster on Saturday so that will give them a boost.

"We don't for one minute think it is going to be easy and we're not underestimating them by any stretch, but if we do our jobs, then we think we can give all the teams in this league a good game."

Outlining what has changed for the Mariners following their indifferent start, Hurst continued: "It's an obvious statement but if you keep clean sheets then you're going to give yourselves a chance.

"We thought there were goals in the team and they're starting to come. If we can remain as solid as we are then we'll do well.

"It frustrates me more that we conceded against Mansfield late on because the clean sheet against Hereford would have made it four in a row, but we're pleased overall.

"Concentration is the big thing and not getting carried away – if we keep doing the right things then we'll give ourselves a chance in most games."
