Grimsby Telegraph

THESE photographs were shown to us by Brian Mapplethorpe, of St Augustine's Avenue, Grimsby.

Brian told us: "One of the photographs shows a great-uncle of mine, Allen Chatterton, who was foreman at Grimsby Ice Factory in the 1930s, as his father had been up to his death in 1909.

"He lived at 16 Carr Lane which, incidentally, was next door to the Cheesemans (number 14), whose son Pat took the stage name of Wymark.

"The other photograph shows a group of happy characters from around 1930.

"My grandfather, Albert Lucas, who then lived at 131 Ladysmith Road, is on the extreme left.

"I am hoping that Bygones readers can identify the others pictured, and possibly the location."

If you can tell us more about the photograph, then please get in touch. The address is Bygones, Grimsby Telegraph, 80 Cleethorpe Road, Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire DN31 3EH or email bygones@grimsbytelegraph.co.uk
