HEALTH chiefs were rapped for not getting planning permission for an office complex for health workers.

Members of North East Lincolnshire Council's Planning Committee heard the area's Care Trust Plus (CTP) went ahead with a single-storey office building in Barmouth Drive, Grimsby, as a base for 75 health staff and 36 outreach workers serving the Willows estate.

Principal planning officer Phil Wallis said planning permission for the prefabricated units was approved under delegated powers in May this year.

But three months into the construction, officers halted work because it did not comply with approved plans.

The CTP chiefs were advised the work did not have planning permission and would be continued "at their own risk."

Planning Committee councillors assessed the application and criticised the way health bosses had gone ahead with construction without planning permission.

“528 working man hours, of a Council planner time ticked by.

While the building was going up. was they supping tea, not coming out the offices, don't they ever just go and see how things are progrssing.

I think they probably didn't know what was being built, until they thought about it.

Why stop the build after a time, the build should have carried on until finished, then the planners would do what they do best, twiddle their thumbs wondering what to do.

To make the firm tear it down wouldn't be a councils loss, just the company that went ahead.

What a sad state of affairs around the council.

Where during this time was the planning dept reps?”
