“This is like Christmas for a lot of Chinese people.
“We usually celebrate for two weeks.
“This event will be the first of its kind in North East Lincolnshire and we are all really looking forward to it.
“On the day, there will be a variety of activities, including paper crafting, Tai Chi demonstrations and of course, Chinese food.
“We want local residents to come and join in with our celebration.”
Throughout the afternoon there will be traditional dance demonstrations and Chinese opera, as well as a buffet.
Chairman Surinder Khurana added: “Our job is to promote diversity in North East Lincolnshire.
“We have never celebrated Chinese New Year together, so this event will be a first for us.
“We often hold cultural shows that are well-attended and we hope that this one will be as popular.
“We have been putting on events for six years now and we are hoping our Chinese New Year celebration will be the first of many.”
