Higgins blasts form
JOHN Higgins was left "gutted" after his agonising UK Championship exit – despite his maximum 147 break.
The 'Wizard of Wishaw', who took part in the Premier League Finals at Grimsby Auditorium last month, conjured up a 147 as he stormed back from 5-2 to force a decider in his best-of-11 round two clash against Mark Davis.
The four-time world champion hit sublime form at York's Barbican Centre as he achieved the seventh maximum of his career, and the 95th in history.
But his comeback was halted in dramatic style in the deciding frame; he missed a regulation final pink to hand Davis victory.

Higgins was just as disappointed with his overall form as the manner of his defeat.
"I'm gutted," he said. "Normally clearing up in the last frame I'd have done it. I didn't deserve to win that match. Who knows where the 147 came from?"
