High-flying Birds still in the hunt
BIRDS Eye A moved two points behind Grimsby & District Billiards League leaders Clee Cons with a 2-1 home victory over Blossom Way.
Bob Eagle (Owe10) and John Mitchell (R70) helped Birds Eye fly into a 2-0 lead, beating Albert Potterton (Owe10) and Keith Harrison (R80) respectively, before Mick Hill (R65) got the last frame with a 200-196 against John Tomlinson (R45).

Clee Cons top the table by two points, but have a game in hand over Birds Eye.
Birds Eye B and Westlands, meanwhile, played catch up with two games against each other inside a week.

Stan Moore opened the scoring with a 200-146 win against Ivan Harvey.
Ian Hewer took the next, beating Jim Litchfield 200-138.
Nige Emmerson, pictured, got the last 200, helped by breaks of 49 and 44. His opponent, Chris Fuller, scored 170.
Westlands got the better of the replay, also, with a 2-1 victory.
Moore (R40) again got the first point on the board, beating Keith Fountain (R95) 200-185.
Dave Litchfield (R100) pulled one back for the visitors with a 200-160 win against Nige Emmerson, whose breaks of 65, 61 and 46 were not enough to prevent defeat.
Hewer (R80) won the decider, 200-180, against Simon Timpson (R85).
A home derby match at Ray Edmonds B saw the 'home' side get a 2-1 win.
Andy Savage (R40) won the first match, 200-179, against Andy Smith (R45).
Blake Munton (R95) pulled level, beating Pete Norman (R95) 200-169.
Liam Oswin (Owe65) then got the winner for the B team against the Vets with an excellent 200-176 triumph over Tony Eglin (R45).
