GRIMSBY Town's bosses are hopeful that striker Liam Hearn could return to action in March.

Last season's top goalscorer is continuing his recovery from a ruptured Achilles, sustained in training in August.

And speaking at this week's Fans' Forum, joint manager Rob Scott says the 27-year-old could be back to boost the Mariners' promotion push.

"He's coming along nicely and we're looking at probably March time for Liam – anything sooner than that will be a bonus, anything later will be a disappointment," said Scott.

"If it does turn out to be later, it will be for the long-term good.

"The fans want him to play, we want him to play.

"We know that it's going to be a minimal part that he has to play this season, but any part he can play will be great."

“Adding Liam to our squad for the run in could make all the difference. Almost like an ace in the sleeve. Get well soon Liam
