It seems inevitable that more food products will come to light that contain horse meat over the next week or so. But would you knowingly eat it?
Although horse meat is widely enjoyed around the world it seems that perhaps many of us British see horses as pets like dogs, cats, hamsters and although we do eat them, rabbits.
Downing Street has called for a horse meat summit and while that is going on I wondered about the possibility of horse meat being found in pub food, restaurants, takeaways and more worryingly for many parents, school meals!
Many people 'had' to eat horse meat in the war as there was very little else available.

My 89-year-old Cleethorpes mum, Betty, said that during WW2 she never knowingly ate horse meat but cooked more rabbits and pigeons than she's had hot dinners!
