“Crazy isn't it. The fish merchants and fishermen have never really got to terms with the declining fish stocks and they never will until the last haul and the final auction for the ultimate chat haddock. There is now a scarcity of fish due to overfishing the whole world wide! Why do you think the biggest fish market in the world, almost a mile in length, is now derelict or largely destroyed. Not rocket science is it? Look at these figures- Monday, 22,000 kits expected, maybe 26.000 landed. Tuesday (the 1st quiet day) 9,000 kits expected, I was finished by 1pm. Wednesday and Thursday, about 12-15,000 kits each day. Friday, the final quiet day, maybe 5-9,000 kits, a nice easy day to end the week and an early finish to spend a lazy hour in Rosie's tea shop on the way home as one of the biggest railway stations in the country sent its passengers, mostly filleted, on their final journey. How wonderful, and it could be again, provided we ditch the EU and take control over the richest fishing grounds off the continent. Ask the Norwegians how they manage.”
