Humberside Chief Constable Tim Hollis set to hand over baton
RETIRING Chief Constable of Humberside Police Tim Hollis said his Force faces increasing challenges in the future with more outsourcing and mergers.
Mr Hollis hands over the Chief Constable baton at the end of the month to Justine Curran at the end of eight years in charge.

He is the longest serving chief constable in a single police force in England.
He said: "Humberside still has to find even greater savings and that could mean more outsourcing of services, more joint working in collaboration with other Forces to pool resources and partnerships with other services including the fire service."

At the end of 35 years in the police, he added: "I am proud to be leaving the Force in fine fettle and with its reputation enhanced after it hit rock bottom in 2005. That was when we were 43 out of 43 in the country and the criticism of the Force for not sharing information with Cambridgeshire Police in relation to the Soham murders."
They were committed by Grimsby man Ian Huntley in 2002 who murdered schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, while working under a false name.
Mr Hollis said: "My job was to bring the self-confidence and pride back into the Force and our reputation has been returned nationally and locally."
He is also proud that Humberside has had 10 successive years in which crime has reduced.
Increasing trends in paedophile crime and online fraud and inciting hatred on social media sites could not be curbed simply by putting more bobbies on the beat, Mr Hollis said.

“I read this article with interest and concluded that this is a man who is clearly deluded !
To suggest that Humberside Police have clawed their way back up from the basement of the credibility ratings is a monumental fallasy.
Has anyone else become a victim of malpractice at the hands of this force and then tried to process a complaint through their Professional Standards Branch ? I have and speak from experience !
I first submitted evidence of a very serious complaint against an officer EIGHT YEARS ago yet after much correspondence and the promise of action, that promise has melted away as quickly as a snowman in the desert, I still await some indication that they are actually dealing with it despite the assurance in their most recent letter?
I would urge Mr. Hollis to get in touch with reality before he makes such rash statements. Perhaps its a blessing he's going.
I hope the new chief will roll back the carpet and retrieve the pile of correspondence that Mr. Hollis and his mates have swept under it during his reign !”
