COUNCILLORS have recommended that residents of the Humberston Fitties must leave their chalets for at least eight weeks every year.

It will come as a blow to campaigners who hoped to be allowed to stay on site for 50 weeks of the year – instead of the 44 weeks they can live there at present.

Following a landmark hearing at the site in October, a select committee set up by North East Lincolnshire Council’s policy, performance and resources scrutiny panel has made a number of recommendations about the site.

    “Fitties1:

Wondered when you would surface clutching your bag of sour grapes.

Any rooms vacant at the Humber Royal for 8 weeks? No? Thought not . . .”

“Is it just me, or does anyone else know a resident who flouts the existing conditions anyway and stays there regardless?

Who enforces the lease, and when?”

“What is it with these people? they sign a lease agreement and then they want to break it! Perhaps they should be reminded that the lease is a legally binding document and if they break it they should be thrown off The Fitties!
The residents were the same when I worked for the council and there has been no change in their attitude at all!
Well done the council for refusing their demands!”

“Whats with this recommend. It makes it sound like there is a choice and we all know the hutties will dismiss it. Enforce the current lease, why is it so damned difficult. The council are spinning it out now. Could it be a nice little expenses earner for more meetings.”

    “A correct decision.
    They are holiday homes/lets only.
Looking at the chalets it is obvious that these are not their only homes. They look pathetic and run down, so much like a shanty town.
I for one would not like to think that these were my only place to live.
Bet they are pleased to get away to a bit of comfort for the 8 weeks they are supposed to be shut!”
