Irby Upon Humber, a small village on the outskirts of Grimsby.  An ancient and beautiful village surrounded by some of the finest walks and bridleways in the area.  However the piece and safety of its villagers and the thousands of visitors the village has each year is continuously being put at risk by irresponsible motorists.

The village is situated alongside the A46, the main road connecting Grimsby to Market Rasen and Lincoln.  Prior to the laying of the A46 the main route was through the village.  Traffic through the village is now sparse.  With the majority of traffic being for farm vehicles and local access.

The village is now accessed directly from the A46 via a slip road turnoff.  Allowing vehicles to slow from the national speed limit to the 30mph limit that is in force throughout the village.

As a village resident myself, we have noticed that Irresponsible drivers are using this slip road to park, answer their phones, even stop to have a cup of tea.  In recent weeks, myself a motorist, has nearly rear ended 4 vehicles on separate occasions that use this slip road to park their vehicle.

we already have up to 50% off rugs but print this voucher off and receive another 10% off. Hurry while stocks last!!

Being in such a remote location it is imperative for residents to have use of a vehicle as the village has no amenities.

Each weekend the village attract 50 -100 walkers.  Who park their vehicles and walk the public footpaths that lead to Irby Dales Woods.  Parking is available opposite the church in the village.  With litter bins and benches provided to accommodate the need for the motorist to park safely with somewhere to stretch their legs and answer phones etc.

The village is a gem of a place to come and see.  All that we ask is that, if you use a car to visit, please park your cars safely, with courtesy and in line with the high way code.  The last thing any one wants to see is the death or serious injury of a motorist as they have ignored the basics of road safety.
