Teenage swimmer James Burke notches ten best times at meet
THIRTEEN-year-old swimmer James Burke was in stunning form for CASA at the Rotherham Metro AS Club A & B Graded short-course meet.
The teenager produced personal best times in each of his 10 races gaining him seven speeding tickets, one gold, one silver and one bronze in the A grade results.
And he wasn't alone in being a swimmer in fine form at the meet.
Natalie Sharman, 14, swam PB's in all but one of her races gaining four speeding tickets, two golds, two silver and two bronze medals (A grade).
And 12-year-old Charlie Spencer achieved one speeding ticket, three golds, three silver and two bronze (A grade) along with a silver in the B grade.
Sharman and Kiera Lansley-Hogg earned themselves joint Top Girls on the day and the club was second in the points table on 284 behind Borough of Kirklees on 298 and in front of Warrington on 234.
The meet saw a staggering 60-plus swimmers from the club competing – ranging in ages from 10 – 21 compete at Sheffield's Ponds Forge International Pool.
Some of them were competing for the very first time in an 'open meet' and the results were commendable.
As a 'graded meet', swimmers that swim faster than the entry time are given a 'speeding ticket' (ST) and the remainder are graded into A or B grades depending upon their times.
Almost every one of their swimmers produced a personal best (PB) in at least one event and many achieved best times in all races.
