Jessops jobs under threat after firm goes into administration
ABOUT 2,000 jobs at camera chain Jessops - which has a store in Grimsby - are under threat after the group collapsed into administration today.
PricewaterhouseCoopers has been appointed to the group, which is Britain's only specialist nationwide camera retailer, with nearly 200 stores.
It marks the first high-profile retail collapse of 2013 and comes soon after consumer electricals chain Comet hit the wall, sparking more than 6,000 job losses.
Jessops, which has its headquarters in Leicester, has suffered in recent years from online competition and the boom in camera phones, which has hit demand for digital cameras.

“Jessops is the worst photography shop in the region, the staff don't know what they're doing, the manager doesn't even know how a camera works.
I'm glad it's closed down, more revenue will now go to the only decent shop left, Comley's.”

“Whenever I read of potential job losses in the Grimsby Telegraph, I always think back to the story they printed when they closed ********** Printing with the loss of 58 jobs. The story told of how happy the newly redundant staff were at having had the opportunity to work there. It's strange how they don't put the same spin on other job loss stories? http://tinyurl.com/aq66ptd
As for those new small adverts within the body of stories - has there ever been a less enticing method of advertising? It looks unprofessional cheap.”
