WANT to be a record-breaker?

Then get along to Cleethorpes Country Park tomorrow to help plant one of 3,600 trees in just one hour as part of National Tree Week.

North East Lincolnshire Council, BBC Breathing Places and Cleethorpes In Bloom will be attempting to plant the trees from 11am to noon and want as many people to muck in and help out.

Mike Sleight, the council’s ecology officer, is urging people to wrap up warm, bring a spade and wear some wellies.

He said: “Everyone is welcome to join us in this world record-breaking attempt and although we are under strict instructions to limit the number of people planting to 100, we still need your support in cheering on the planters!”

Staff will also be on hand to explain how people can Do One Thing For Nature and how to help prepare for the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity.

Look out for coverage of the event in your Grimsby Telegraph next week.
