Kelsey seconds stay on course
SECOND-placed South Kelsey 2nds kept on track for a promotion slot in the Lincolnshire County Cricket League Division Four with an eight-run home win over mid-table Morton in the
Opener Tony Potter made 54, and Barry Potter 39, in Kelsey's 131 for nine, as Simon Turner claimed six for 20.
The visitors were then dismissed for 123, with six players reaching the teens without going on to play what would have been a match-winning innings.
Barry Potter capped a good all-round performance with figures of four for 32 in the Kelsey attack, while Matty Thompson produced four for 43 from 18.2 overs.
Jim Fish's 84 and Mick Barton's five for 37 helped Grimsby side Stamford Homes record a narrow five-run win over Hykeham 2nds.
Rob Buckley took five for 48 as Hykeham bowled out the home team for 175, Alan Ashton leading the way with 61 as the visitors fell agonisingly short of their target on 170.
Scunthorpe Town 3rds are second-from-bottom following a seven-wicket reverse at Alford 2nds, whose own chances of avoiding having to seek re-election were boosted by the 20 points gained.
Scunthorpe's all-out 94 was dominated by 54 from Umer Gondall, batting at four, as Paul Nickson took three for eight.
After tea, opener Dave Honman finished 36 not out as Alford took 24.2 overs to claim victory.
Bottom side Brigg Town failed to build on their opening league victory the previous week, going down by 14 runs when they hosted Market Rasen 2nds – another team in the lower reaches of the basement section.
Rasen posted 170 for eight (Fussey 33) as Ryan Musselwhite captured four for 26 and John Danson two for 29.
Musselwhite then scored 56 and Dylan Hildreth 32 - but Brigg were dismissed for 156, Richley taking four for 32.
PAUL Harrison top-scored with 26 as Brigg Town 2nds gained the lion's share of the points from their East Yorks Alliance Division Three away game at Cottingham.
Brigg were bowled out for 153, then restricted the home team to 132 for eight, Tom Brock grabbing four for 18 in 11 overs.
East Halton had to be content with a losing draw against Cherry Burton, who made 226 for seven – despite the efforts of Nigel Godfrey (three for 46).
The North Lincs villagers replied with 195 for seven, Adrian Jack scoring 69 and Darren Gamwell and Matt Portess 28 apiece.
