Khan's future on council uncertain
DANIEL Khan's future as a North East Lincolnshire councillor remains uncertain today after it was revealed he will not be defending his seat at the forthcoming election.
The Grimsby Telegraph can today reveal that the Liberal Democrat candidate for his Park ward seat – which he has held for seven years – will be Christina Fell, a former co-ordinator for Cleethorpes In Bloom.
Cllr Khan, who remains the current ward councillor for the area and NELC's portfolio holder for finance and performance, could not be contacted by the Grimsby Telegraph to comment on the situation, despite repeated attempts.
However, leader of the Liberal Democrat party for the area, Cllr Andrew De Freitas, said it was still a possibility that Cllr Khan may stand for election in another North East Lincolnshire ward and that "no decision" had been made.
As yet no Liberal Democrat candidate has been selected to stand for election in Waltham or The Wolds wards.
