Ladies make progress after hard-fought triumph

A COMPETITIVE encounter against Forest Pines saw the ladies of Laceby Manor progress in The Mail On Sunday competition.

The closely-fought match ended with the Manor ladies winning 3 and 2.

The victorious Laceby team consisted of Lynn Waddingham, Josie Hallam, Ann Smith, Mary Shaw, Sandra Silvester and ladies captain Sandie Braithwaite.

Extra praise was reserved for Smith and Shaw, who stood in at the last minute to play.

Meanwhile, the ladies at the club recently played a pairs betterball Stableford.

The winners, with 23 points, were Shaw and Viv Francis. In second place were Pauline Wheatley and Iris Murdoch, with a score of 19 points, on countback from Hallam and Janet Loveday.

Waddingham beat Smith and Braithwaite on countback – after all scored 19 points – when the ladies played a 12-hole Stableford in wonderful conditions.

Smith pipped Braithwaite to second place.
