Airport have been affected due to part of the line between Scunthorpe and

Doncaster being buried.

The landslide happened at a colliery near

Stainforth early this morning.

Train passengers are still able to travel to

Scunthorpe where a replacement bus service will continue to Doncaster where a

normal service will resume.

Buses will

leave Scunthorpe for Doncaster at 15 minutes past the hour and from Doncaster for

Scunthorpe at 45 minutes past the hour.

The delays are expected to last until at least

early next week.

Nick

Donovan, Managing Director  for First TransPennine Express (FTPE) said:

"Train

services between Doncaster and Scunthorpe are currently unable to operate due

to a landslip in the Stainforth area.

 "Engineers

from Network Rail are currently on site and we are working together to ensure

the line is reopened as soon as possible.

"However,

due to the severity of the incident, major repair work will need to take place

in the area. At this time, it is unclear how long the railway line will be

closed.

"Replacement

buses are in operation between Doncaster and Scunthorpe whilst a limited train

service will be in operation between Scunthorpe and Cleethorpes.

"We

appreciate the inconvenience this will cause to your journey and as a result,

extra members of staff will be hand to assist customers.

"We are advising passengers to allow extra time

to complete their journey and to check before they travel at www.nationalrail.co.ukor by calling 08457 48 49 50."

“At the risk of becoming a cantankerous comment'er', the following statement is rubbish: "extra members of staff will be on hand to assist customers". The one member of staff giving advice directed everyone to the train that had departed 30 seconds ago. Cheers mate!”
