Former Grimsby Town manager Brian Laws puts the record straight
"I THREW a punch back. Just one punch. Not the tray with the chicken legs that was reported in the media at the time and has been mentioned ever since."
That's the revelation from former Grimsby Town boss Brian Laws, as he puts the record straight about the 'Ivano Bonetti incident' in his new book.
Referring to his now infamous dressing room spat with the Italian playmaker in 1996, Laws finally gives his take on the incident which hit the national headlines.
Laws, who managed the Mariners between 1994-96, claims that Bonetti launched sandwiches at him before throwing a punch after the defeat at Luton Town.

He goes on to explain the midfielder's departure at the end of that campaign – and his own Blundell Park exit after a run of poor results the following season.
"I could not have wished for a better club than Grimsby to start my managerial career and I have a lot to thank them for," he adds.
