A GRIMSBY teenager is representing youngsters from the UK at the Copenhagen climate conference.

Leon Ward, 17, is training as a reporter at the landmark conference on climate change after being chosen by the children's charity Plan.

The Franklin College student said: "I am passionate about climate change. I want to do all I can to make sure the opinions of young people are heard at this conference.

"We are the generation which is going to inherit this problem and we should have a say in what happens. As a reporter out there I will be able to ask the questions that young people want to know the answers to."

The climate conference began yesterday and is scheduled to last 12 days, with US president Barack Obama due to attend in the final days.

More than 15,000 delegates and 45,000 green activists are due to descend on the Danish capital during the meeting, which has been described by British economist Lord Stern as "the most important since the Second World War".

They will be joined by at least 5,000 journalists and 100 world leaders.

“"glaciers melting, polar ice caps melting, pacific islands on the verge of disappearing, etc, etc".

Oh dear, I'm afraid you are woe-fully misinformed, Damo.

All the horror stories you've been fed are based on dodgy data, dissemminated and perpetuated by a small clique of self-serving fraudsters, who who stand to make lots of money out of the Man-Made Global warming lie.

As for 'sinking islands' - don't be ridiculous. Do you really believe everything you read?

    AGW is a scam.
Do some research of your own and I'm sure you'll come to that conclusion.

You could start with googling "Watts Up With That", or "EU Referendum" .. then read Christopher Booker, Lord Monkton or Ian Plimner.

Just go and look for yourself and stop being a sheep.”

“Are some of you being paid by oil companies?! How can you say that human activity isn't having an effect on the planet. In a VERY short space of time there have been huge changes - glaciers melting, polar ice caps melting, pacific islands on the verge of disappearing, etc, etc. Stop burying your heads in the sand (and driving your SUV) and do something constructive rather than complaining about personal choice. Personally, I would like to have fresh water and food to eat in the future, which we won't if we carry on using the earth's resources as we are currently.”

“Climate change is not caused by more people using there cars, building new homes, turning your heating up or any of the 'man made' problems which are suppoesdly heating our planet up.

Climate is something so big that is is ridiculous to think that our carbon footprint is having the massive effect we are being led to believe.

The climate is changing Fact. this is part of a natural cycle which we can not alter....

    Enjoy the ride”

    “Mimi.
As i said in my previous post, and i agree with Hangfal and Chris. no ammount of money or talk by overpaid politicians and similarly overpaid ex pop stars will change the weather.

Perhaps we should all demonsrate against the disgusting ammount of money wasted on this jolly which is taking place in Copenhagen, not to mention the ammount of unnecessary fuel that is being wasted, think of all that pollution.

As for McCartney's ludicrous attempt to get us to eat the kind of food that he does, perhaps he can tell us what the difference would be if we were eating all of the vegetables instead of cows eating them.
Would we not produce methane gas?”

“Mimi - whether global warming is man's fault or not is VERY relevant.

Because at this very moment, the Worlds political elite are in Copenhagen deciding how much the West is going to pay in 'compensation' to the developing world for supposedly causing it. And if it all works out well for this bunch of criminals (that is what the global elite are because they KNOW that man-made-global is a fraud) it will amount to trillions and trillions of dollars/pounds and euro's of taxpayers money. This will inevitably lead to the collapse of many western economies, crushing poverty, and a very very bleak future indeed for your children and grandchildren.

Is this what you want for them?”

“Mimi, how arrogant are you? My comments are worthless?? The FACTS are that the education being given to these impressionable young people do not give them the option of choice, they are fed lies (Al Gore's Inconvenient Tuth which, ironically, is littered with lies and inaccuracy, something proven in court!!). The so called scientists beating the drum are fiddling the figures and refusing to explain their methods. You can be blind to the facts if you like, but some of us look at both sides of the argument, and believe me when I tell you that there really are two sides to this matter and the science is a million miles from being settled! I'm also guessing your statement about methane and cows alludes to Paul McCartneys recent ramplings about humans converting to vegetanarianism to cut back on the need for methane producing cattle. He is well being some dictator from the UN who was caring about this many moons ago. What these people are actually trying to do is dictate us in what we do,m where we go, and now what we eat. This planet is not in peril, and neither our my grand children or yours, or anyone elses, at least not because of Man Caused Climate Change. By the way, sea ice is increasing at both poles in recent years, and polar bears and penguins are not dwindling. In fact polar bears are on the increase, unlike global temperatures over the last decade that have actually fallen!”

“Whether or not is the fault of 'Man' is irelevent. The fact is, if we want our great great grand kids to have a chance of a decent life, we need to sort it out. Maybe it is caused by the methane in cows. They cant do anything. As humans, we are always trying to prove we're top of the food of chain. We cant change this now just for a bit of cash. Sadly, there are many alternatives out there that will have a dramatic change on the climate (in time, with a lot people getting involved of course), which get put by the wayside because too many people will not be able to line their pockets. Money is a man made thing, its a bonus in life. You cant take it with you. The legacy we need to leave is this planet, and I for one agree that youngsters should be aware of the possibilities out there. You can throw the brainwashed theory around all you like, but unless you look at all education, ie, religion as brainwashing too, then your comments are quite worthless. At least will listen and make their own minds up, that all you can ask for really.”

    “Spot on Chris.
I'm fed up with being told what to do by overpaid scientists.
Any one with a reasonable memory will know that the weather has always been unpredictable, I remember when one labour government once appointed a minister for drought, i beleive this was in the 70s. it didn't do any good but as ministers are paid more than ordinary MPs i suppose as usual one of the labour cronies (i believe it was someone called Howell) was on a nice little earner.

One thing that's certain is,man will never be able to control the weather, because if it was possible. who was responsible for the end of the ice age?

So Mr Brown , please stop using this as an excuse to take yet more of our cash to pay for the governments mismanagement of our country.”

“Climatology, like economics, is not a predictive science. You can choose between the climatolgists whose funding depends upon convincing you they have the answers, and the sceptical scientists at the other Copenhagen conference who are trying to prevent the squandering of vast resources.Cimate change reminds a lot of people of a similar propaganda we spread about the weapons of mass destruction before we all went to an illegal war in Iraq. Pip.. Pip..”

“Young people (especially) have been brain washed from a very young age into thinking that Climate Change is a man made problem. The evidence does not support this theory.

There are not 4000, or 2500 IPCC scientists who say otherwise either. The science is littered with unknowns and contradictions and the actions of the likes of the UK Government will serve only to reduce our standard of living, take away freedoms of choice and give Govenment the excuse to tax even more.

The theory of Man caused Climate Change is based on misinformation and the public should stand against the propoganda before we are taken back to the dark ages.”
