MPs take a tour of power plant to find out about local energy production
TWO MPs toured a Stallingborough power station to find out more about local energy production.
Cleethorpes and Immingham MP Martin Vickers and Brigg MP Andrew Percy went on a guided tour of Centrica's South Humber bank power station.
Mr Vickers said the visit gave him the opportunity to find out more about the Humber bank's power-making potential.
"It is good to get an overview of the existing operations and opportunities for power production in the area," he said.
"Energy and energy prices are important issues which impact upon our constituents."
Mr Percy said: "Having a sound knowledge of power production is particularly important in this area where we have existing companies like Centrica and so much potential to generate renewable energy,"
Their tour was led by Tony Lyon, generation manager for the South Humber Bank.
He said: "It is good for our local MPs to have an understanding of what we do so that when they have decisions to make in terms of future policy, they are better informed.
"We are also a sizeable employer in the area and it is useful for them to know the opportunities we have here and the way we manage our impact upon the environment."
