Macclesfield boss Steve King is expected to shuffle his pack ahead of the clash with high-flying Grimsby.

The Silkmen were thumped 4-0 at home to Gateshead last Friday, leaving them nine points adrift of the play-off places.

Loan trio Yasser Kasim, Micah Evans and Jonny Gorman all returned to their parent clubs this week forcing King to consider his options.

Goalkeeper Rhys Taylor serves the second game of his three-match ban so Lance Cronin will continue in goal. Cronin was rushed back from his recovery from a broken thumb after King failed in his bid for a loan replacement.

Defender Nat Brown faces a late fitness test ahead of kick-off but Kieran Murtagh is expected to miss out with a hamstring problem.

Grimsby bosses Rob Scott and Paul Hurst could name an unchanged side.

The Mariners beat Ebbsfleet 3-1 in midweek to move to within three points of league leaders Wrexham.

Derby defender Tom Naylor made his debut as a substitute in that fixture after joining on loan and could be involved again.

Midfielder Joe Colbeck is also pushing for a starting role after an impressive introduction from the bench, which involved a hand in the third goal.

Scott and Hurst have no other injury or suspension worries heading into the match as they target a fifth win in seven outings.

Last season's top scorer Liam Hearn remains sidelined with an Achilles injury but is aiming to return before the Mariners' FA Trophy final on March 24.

“another must win game here , we can only afford about 2 losing encounters between now and the end of the season and we have more difficult contests ahead, we must keep the pressure on the others competeing for that automatic spot so they worry about us and not vice-verse...”
