“p.s. We could always get a New Yorker/ New Zealander/ Aussie to come and jump into Superintendant posts and solve all the UK crime for us? That's what our government are now suggesting on BBC news this morning. Or we could have bank clerks apply for the posts instead? Given the candidates (even successful one) who have very little prior knowledge of the British criminal law and justice system (a B&B owner??!!!), in the recent Police Commissioner elections, anyone care to comment on what they think will really happen to crime and it's levels in under-resourced areas such as this?
Unless all those vigilantes out there with pride and respect for their fellow humans, who were raised with values and morals and who bother to uphold them, stand together against what is NOT acceptable in our communities, DO report local scum because without it, there is often too little evidence to prove cases (scum get away with it and get more confident, carry on and do worse) and DO be prepared to give time and make statements... thats if you are not able to challenge the actual crime happening in the first place.”

“I think they do this kind of attack because they can.
1.There are few police on the beat, instead they waft through areas in 2 manned patrol cars, if you blink they are gone and not seen again for the rest of their shift (PCSO's do not have power of arrest either so hardly a deterrent).
2. Very few members of public challenge or get involved in attacks when they see them happen (again no deterrent).
3. As for the robbery, the prosecution would have to prove exactly which one stole the items for the charge of robbery to stick which would be difficult to prove given the speed of the attack, that the man was physically attacked and suffering so doubt if he would be able to identify one above any others. That would mean a drop or lowering of the charge to one of theft as opposed to the robbery it actually was. The perpetrators then end up getting away with serious offences.
4. Finally the courts/judges have pre-determined guidelines that determine the highest level of sentence they can give for any specific crime.
5. As for those who mention the mothers of this scum, really? Do you honestly think the parents give a toss about them in the first place? If a young person can even consider doing something like this let alone actually do it, I suspect they haven't exactly been raised right in the first place hence they are left to their own devices, raise themselves and end up having a warped idea of what is acceptable behaviour in today's society.
Personally, the main deterrent I can see would be to actually have more officers (with power of arrest) actually walking the neighbourhoods and spending more time than just a quick drive by in the communities they serve, especially perhaps after dark.”

“@charliep102
When this report was first put online, it did not state where in Grimsby it had happened! The story has obviously been updated now. So I'm pretty sure markus250666 can read perfectly well!”

“Name and shame them photos and full postal addresses on front page. Bring back the stocks and leave them in there all day and let GY people dish out their own punishment. Video the punishment and post it on facebook as the morons start crying for their mummy.”

“Yet another story regarding Grimsby's weak kneed wasters. Four brave 'waste of spaces' pick on a 58 year old man. What were their mothers doing letting them out at that time of night? Should have been in bed with their teddies.
When will the courts have the guts to sort this type of scum out and remove them from the streets of our town?”

“Markus 250666
Can you not read, it quite clearly states Heneage Road in the second line of the story.”
