Marathon effort reaps rewards
NORTH East Lincolnshire clubs enjoyed a successful day at the Mablethorpe Marathon and Half Marathon.
Weather conditions were ideal for the 384 runners who finished the half marathon, and the 243 who completed the full 26.2 miles.

The half marathon was won by Chippenham Harriers' Peter Cusick in 1.18.37.
Kevin Green, pictured, of Cleethorpes AC had one of his best ever races to finish second in 1.19.33.

City of Hull's Andrew Cross took third spot with 1.20.32. Louth AC's Stuart Cragg was seventh in 1.22.11.
Cleethorpes AC's men's team won the team prize thanks to the efforts of Kevin Green, Trevor Green (1.22.27) and Chris Woodforth (1.29.36).
Shaun Taylor (1.25.35) and Chris Marshall of Wolds Vets (1.28.01) had good runs. The latter looked strong as he powered down the home straight to claim the first Vet-60 age category prize.
First female was Frances Harrison in 1.27.53. Second was Mablethorpe AC's Janine Stones in 1.31.44 and third was Clee AC's Pirjo Kivelainen in 1.36.59.
There was a large number of other local athletes in action, many of whom set new personal bests.
They included (Clee AC unless stated): Nick Gregory (1.29.46), Dave Smith (1.35.28), Keith Lamb (Wolds Vets 1.44.24), Martin Clarke (Wolds Vets, 1.47.15), Michael Mahoney (1.48.49), Alan Williams (1.57.03), Ian Smith (1.58.54), Samantha Jenson (1.59.07), Lesley Parry (1.59.12), Malcolm Simons (2.01.44), Katie Sandall (2.02.18), Sally Barnett (2.03.21), Diane Peacock (2.03.21), Jackie Love (Wolds Vets, 2.11.08), Kevin Musgrove (2.15.46), Nina Smith (2.17.22), Natalie Williams (2.21.37).
Times above are 'chip times', the time registered by each runner's electronic timing chip.
The full marathon was won by Bedford & County's Stephen Earley in 2.43.25.
Tony Hooper (Clee AC) had a particularly good run, clocking 3.07.10 for 19th.
Fellow Clee members in action included Ashley Milson (3.24.23), Darren Rowe (3.26.14), Leona Bellamy (in her first marathon) in 4.26.42 and Antony Martin (4.59.34). Daniel Chico of Wolds Vets clocked 4.44.47.
At the Chester Marathon, a number of Wolds Vets were in action – Peter Hutchinson (3.09.45), Paul Freeman (3.18.42), Ann Adkins Knoyle (3.57.46), Richard Smith (4.34.11), Jayne Smith (4.34.12) and Andy Clarkson (4.34.12).
Fellow Wolds Vets Nicola Clifford and Neil Pattison were in action at the Jersey Marathon, both clocking 4.16.
