Marcus Marshall hoping for a winners' medal after extending Grimsby Town stay
MARCUS Marshall is dreaming of a Conference winners’ medal after extending his Grimsby Town stay until the end of the season.
As reported online at thisisgrimsby.co.uk/sport, the Bury winger’s loan spell was due to end at the weekend, but he will now stay with the Mariners until May 5. The 23-year-old is pleased to get his short-term future sorted and is now focused on playing his part in a promotion charge.
“I’ve been wanting to get this deal done for about two weeks, but with the transfer embargo at Bury, it’s been difficult to finalise,” Marshall told the Telegraph.
“They’ve agreed to let me stay here until May and I’m just delighted to get as many games under my belt as I can.

“I’ve told the gaffer at Bury that I’m really enjoying my football with Grimsby, and I think I’ve been doing pretty well.
“I’ve never had a winners’ medal before, so if we can get that champions medal at the end of the season it would mean so much.
“If we can stay focused and keep doing what we’re doing, then come May hopefully we’ll still be on top.
“That’s something not many people get to experience – if we can achieve that as a team that will mean a lot to all of us.”
The former Blackburn Rovers man has made a big impression following his arrival at Blundell Park in early November.
And after 11 appearances and one goal – a cracker at Ebbsfleet last month – the pacy wideman is determined to improve further.
“I’m getting more confident with every game and I can only get better,” he commented.
“The gaffers had watched me for a while and even when I didn’t believe in myself they believed in me. So I’m glad that I’ve come in, done well and paid some of that faith back – it’s always nice to have a manager who knows what you can do and believes in you.
“The lads here have made me feel at home from day one as well. They want to get it down, they want to play and they want to get it wide – I can’t ask for any more.”
