Rob Scott: 'Grimsby Town and AFC Telford are two different animals'

GRIMSBY Town joint boss Rob Scott believes both the Mariners and Telford are now 'different animals' from the last time they met – for contrasting reasons.

Scott described Town's promotion project as still being 'in its infancy' when his side won 2-1 at New Bucks Head back in October.

Tamworth, then managed by former Tottenham star Andy Sinton, were on a decent run of form themselves, but things have not gone to plan since.

Now under the stewardship of Mark Cooper, right, following Sinton's departure, the Bucks have not won in the league since beating Dartford – in the game before that clash with Town.

And Scott says that Town will be eager to continue Telford's miserable run when the two sides meet again tomorrow.

He said: "Both teams are different animals from the last time we played Telford.

"We were still trying to find our way and trying to incorporate a lot of new players into the system.

"We were still a work in progress and what we were trying to achieve was very much in its infancy.

"I think Telford had a good start, but obviously since then, they've had a bad run of it.

"Confidence works both ways – it can work in your favour when you've got it and against you when you haven't.

"Not winning can become a habit and we'll be looking to make sure that continues for them tomorrow."

Scott is anticipating the Bucks players will respond positively to the appointment of Cooper, and says Town will have to 'match, and then better' their opposition's work-rate.

"There's always a period after a new manager comes in when a team enjoys a better set of performances," he continued.

"Although Telford didn't get the result at Cambridge, they got a better performance.

"I think they pleased their fans with their work-rate but ultimately, there wasn't three points at the end of it.

"We need to be aware that they are going to work hard and we need to stand up to that, match, and then better their levels.

"If we do that, then we'll give ourselves a good chance."
