Meggies Twenty20 huge hit with Cleethorpes CC supporters at Chichester Road
CRICKET section chairman Paul Hewstone has heralded Cleethorpes CC's Twenty20 event as "a huge success."
The Meggies' triumph on the pitch delighted the hundreds of spectators at Chichester Road – and Hewstone said the eighth staging of the event may have been the best yet.

"Across the day we had well over 1,000 spectators, with 600 or 700 there at any one time," he said.
"Initial indications are very good, from the bar takings, raffle, programme sales, fairground rides – it looks like it's been a massive success.

"If it's not the biggest crowd we've ever had then it's right up there."
Hewstone added: "It's not the main aim of the day, but it's always nice to win it!
"We perhaps need to bring the boundary rope in a little bit next year to encourage more sixes and get some bigger scores.
"But all four teams are evenly matched and that added to the day.
"The feedback we've had so far has been excellent – it was a big success. Everyone I spoke to on the day thought it was great.
"We're dependent on the weather and the gods smiled on us, so that helps.
"We don't think there's anyone else within a long way who can put on a day like that – it's all done through volunteers and is a real club day."

“This was a first class day, some good cricket backed up by some exceptional catches, great weather and an appreciative crowd. Hope this tournament is repeated next year.”
