Meggies well set for launch
AN away clash at Nottinghamians will raise the curtain on Cleethorpes RUFC's Midlands Four East (North) campaign on Saturday.
And if last weekend's season-opening NLD Cup victory is anything to go by, the Meggies could be set for an enjoyable ride.
Under new captain Peter Southwell, Cleethorpes' first-string triumphed 30-13 at Horncastle.
After being camped in the hosts' half for the opening 20 minutes, a superb dummy and darting run from Dan McDaid brought the opening try.

Matt Stinson made up for missing the conversion by slotting home a well-struck penalty shortly after.
Pete Southwell then went on a mazy run before offloading to Mike Burton, who charged through to score. The try was converted, giving Cleethorpes a 15-0 lead.
Horncastle responded by pulling back a try through their fly-half, which he converted.
But Cleethorpes went back on the offensive and scored again when, after scrum-half Craig Knight pulled off a great dummy and pop pass, Adam Roberts touched down under the posts to give Stinson a simple conversion.
Stinson added another kick before the hosts reduced the deficit with two penalties.
Cleethorpes were comfortable in the second half but finished on a high when Burton added another try.
Cleethorpes 2nds visit Skegness 2nds in the Lincolnshire Merit League on Saturday. They lost 25-5 at home to Barton & District 1sts last weekend.
