RESIDENTS had mixed reactions after their first glimpse at proposals for the design of a 400-home development off Humberston Avenue.

Illustrations of initial plans for the 64-acre Millennium Park housing development were revealed at a consultation at Humberston Country Club this morning.

Some residents told the Grimsby Telegraph the designs were "probably the best we will get", while others branded the plans "despicable."

Who, in their right mind, would ever take notice of the drivellers spouting on this site? Bless.”

    “@plumduff10...

I completely agree with the £200,000 house business.

Even affordable housing still isn't that affordable. What would be benificial is Social housing. Social Housing now requires local connections, meaning only people from the areas of Lincolnshire would be eligible for the houses. People who live in Grimsby etc would be more likely to recieve one, so this doesn't really make a difference to the amount of people living in the area. It just allows honest, hard working people a decent home. I understand this wouldn't solve the problem for those wanting to own their own house, as social housing is renting, but it's still a darn sight cheaper for people with the low renting costs of social housing.

And yes, no one want's to see our fields built on...But the fact is we need more houses. The population is only going to increase.”

"Times are moving on, we need more housing. People are going to have to accept it.

I haven't followed this closely but are we talking affordable housing -given the state of the mortgage business-or £200,000 houses. If the latter, whose going to buy them when people can't get mortgages for lower priced properties to move the chain on?”
