Moped man went for drunken ride in pedestrianised area of Grimsby
POLICE sighted a moped rider tearing around a Grimsby pedestrianised area with a "high-spirited" pillion passenger at 3.30am, a court heard.
Jason Hobbins, 21, of Ladysmith Road, Grimsby, admitted drink-driving, driving without consideration and driving with only a provisional licence on November 14.
Jayne Wilson, prosecuting, told Grimsby Magistrates' Court that Hobbins was seen at 3.30am riding a moped around while carrying a female pillion passenger, who was not wearing a helmet.
She was waving her arms in the air as they sped around the Victoria Street area of Grimsby, apparently "showing off" for about 15 minutes.

Hobbins swerved around a police officer before eventually stopping.
A blood test revealed he had 108mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood.
The legal limit is 80mg.
He later admitted he had drunk 15 whisky and cokes.
Nick Furman, mitigating, said Hobbins was "acting daft" and being "very silly", but very few people were around and nobody seemed to be upset or annoyed about the pair's high-spirited behaviour.
"Nobody came to any harm," said Mr Furman.
Hobbins, who is working, was fined £500, banned from driving for 16 months and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a Government- imposed £50 victims' surcharge.
