OCEANBLUE remain at the summit of Division One of the Intelect Engineering Grimsby & District Three-Man Squash League after a 10-5 win over Preston Auto Electrical.

Keith Haycock, below, started the ball rolling at number three for Preston against Paul Birkinshaw.

Haycock won a tense first game 15-12, but Birkinshaw fought back in the second game to win 15-10.

The points were locked at 15-15 in the third, so the game went to a tie-break where Haycock played vintage squash to edge it 18-16.

Birkinshaw came out in the fourth game fired up, but Haycock closed out the match, taking the fourth game 15-10, and an entertaining match 3-1

At number two for Preston was recently crowned Lincolnshire Woman's county champion Lisa Tamplin against her husband John.

He started brightly and took the first game 15-9. And, with Lisa making some unforced errors, he extended that lead by taking the next game 15-5.

Lisa fought back in the third game, playing some exquisite shots to take it 15-8.

But John played some fine squash in the fourth game to take it 15-7, and the match 3-1.

It was all to play for as two of the top number ones in the division took to the court – Mark Stephenson for Preston Electrical and Danny Morrison for OceanBlue.

Stephenson started brightly, forcing the pace and catching Morrison out with some very good cross court drops to take the first, 15-8.

Morrison showed more urgency in the second game, playing some fantastic drives. As a result, Morrison levelled the match, taking the second game 15-7.

The third game was a tight affair, but again it was Morrison who edged it 15-10.

The fourth game followed the same pattern with both players playing some fantastic shots. However, Morrison preserved his season's unbeaten record, taking the game 15-11 and match 3-1.
