NHS would be in a sorry state without dedicated staff
I WAS a bit annoyed to see somebody complaining about Grimsby's Diana, Princess Of Wales Hospital.
I have nothing but admiration for it, as I had two tumours on my kidney and without the hospital would not be here today.

The surgeons were fantastic and I couldn't have asked for better care from the nursing staff after my operation.
The food could have been better, but this has nothing to do with the nurses.

Problems only occur due to government cuts. The poor nurses have more and more work to do because of these cuts, because the hospitals are getting rid of nurses.
I have had numerous occasions to go into hospital over the past six years, which if we didn't have the NHS would have cost thousands.
I say God bless the doctors and nurses and that the NHS would be in a sorry state without them.

You were certainly fortunate to get the caring staff and treatment that you were entitled to and I sincerely hope your health continues to improve.
I have also been into hospital recently for major surgery, althought the operation itself went ok, I cannot help but state that there were several issues on my ward regarding subsequent nursing aftercare.
Over several weeks in the Grimsby Telegraph there have been many negative reports regarding the Diana Princess of Wales Hospital , I have no reason from my own experience to believe that these comments are not true and I hope you are wise enough to acknowledge that may be the fact in some if not all cases.
Yes I do accept that some nurses & doctors are under pressure, however some, not all, are just downright lazy and uncaring and should not be in the profession. Nursing once was a vocation, but I think that's now far from the norm.
Just one petty thing I care to mention. A gentleman in the bed opposite me accidentally pressed his button for attention, he meant to press the button to administer a dose of pain killer. He immediately realised what he had done , but couldn't reach to cancel the alarm. Immediately next to me was a doctor at a workstation. I pointed out to her what had happened and asked her if she cold cancel the alarm button. I was met with a curt reply "Someone else gets paid to do that" Just walking two bed lengths could have rectified the the situation. Some 15 minutes later a nurse, maybe overworked, attended the bed opposite was was very annoyed and vented her anger on the poor patient for being called unnessarily. That was typical of things that was occuring on my ward.
Like I said , you were fortunate in getting first class treatment, something that we all should expect & be receiving. I just hope you never have a genuine cause for complaint as you will be met with a wall of silence and having to constantly chase for a response,also deny receiving correspondence, eventually resulting in never getting a truthful conclusion.
Red arrows or not , I would be quite willing to report my experiences to any independent body.
I know, just like you , my experiences are true.”
