Netball Winter League table-toppers stretch lead thanks to victory
ARTIES Playsport A remain top of Division Two of the Grimsby & District Senior Netball Winter League after a 31-10 win over Travis Perkins.
The leaders have had a number of games handed to them on a plate by the opposition being unable to field a full side, so have not had the match practice most other teams in the division have.
But, to Playsport's credit, they continue to dominate with precision play and a never-say-die attitude.
Goal-shooter (GS) Julie Klug and goal-attack (GA) Karen Bolton don't give up the ball if the shot is missed. They simply follow the shot and fight hard to regain control, usually netting at the second attempt.

Goalkeeper (GK) Angie Hackney and goal-defence (GD) Vicky Mcguire are also a nightmare for opposing shooters.
Their persistence and vision often means they intercept incoming passes and any missed shots are collected before the ball begins its journey back up court.
Travis Perkins had a tough test, but their spirit did not falter as they kept to their own game and pounced on any chances they made.
Sam Davidson (GS), for Travis, netted a number of accurate long distance goals.
She and her shooting partner Selina (GA) had a hard time getting close to the goal post, so were forced to shoot from afar or pass around the shooting D, allowing the ball to be intercepted.
Playsport's wing-defence (WD) Rachel Bradley and Travis Perkins' wing-attack (WA) Rebecca Cressey had an evenly-matched game – with Cressey supporting her centre (C) Laura Wright and Bradley not giving an inch.
At half-time, Playsport were 16-5 ahead. The second period was much the same, however the persistent rain was playing havoc with the ball, making it slippery.
Playsport held on to take the game 31-10 and, with another five points to their ever increasing lead, they are staying well ahead of the chasing pack.
The weather conditions also played a big part in the Division Two fixture between Blackrow Engineering and Betty McKenzie, with heavy rain and gusts of wind making ball handling very difficult.
Both teams adapted well after some early errors, and Bettys had the best of the early play.
Blackrow played some fast-flowing netball through the court but were unable to make the shots count.
Betty's Sarah Laister (GD) and Hannah Brooking (GK) made the most of their substantial height advantage and took the rebounds.
Blackrow's shooters Jade Winfarrah (GA) and Sophie Gordon (GS) began to find the net more effectively as half-time approached, to give them a small lead.
The second half produced some very exciting netball all round. Blackrow's Paige Rodger (WD) seemed to be everywhere on the court and made some fantastic interceptions to win possession.
Winfarrah's ball handling was exceptional in the conditions and, although Bettys fought hard and never gave up, Blackrow's shooters found their form and were the 19-13 victors.
