Before that, Louth had lost five of the previous seven pre-season ties, including a 2-0 defeat to Grimsby Town's Youth team.
But speaking after Tuesday's victory, Clare was positive ahead of the big kick-off tomorrow.
He said: "We have been threatening to play like that for a few games now and the team held their shape well
"Organisation and communication were first class and we cut out the silly mistakes.
"We looked really dangerous on the break and it was a great all round team performance."
In Albion Sports, Louth will face a team who finished fourth in their first season in the Northern Counties East League, eight places above Town in 12th.
Louth season's continues next Wednesday when they take on Bottesford Town in the NCEL League Cup (7.45pm).
That match is followed by an FA Cup extra preliminary tie against Glossop North End (3pm) on Saturday August 11.
