EX-Grimsby Town goalkeeper Aidan Davison is the new head coach at FC JAX Destroyers in America.

The 43-year-old steps up from assistant to replace Eric Dutt at the Jacksonville-based side.

Davison played in every division in the Football League and also represented Northern Ireland in World Cup qualifiers.

But he will be best remembered by Town fans for the double Wembley wins in 1998 during his first spell at Blundell Park.

Davison left for Sheffield United in 1999 but was back at Town four years later.

Before that second stint with the club that took his appearance total close to 150 games, he promised his wife Christine, who is from the USA originally, that he would retire from football to go and live in her native America.

He finally did that in the last 12 months after leaving a job as Reserve coach at Hull City, though he has remained involved in the game across the pond.

FC JAX Destroyers are a new side founded only last year and the men's team plays in the USL Premier Development League (PDL), the fourth tier of the US football pyramid.
