'New supermarket will keep shoppers in Louth'
SHOPPERS in Louth have shown their support for a discount supermarket plan at a public consultation event.
Lidl held an open day at Louth Salvation Army Hall to show people in the town the plans for the proposed store and samples of the products they sell.
As reported, the discount supermarket chain wants to develop a neighbourhood food store on the site of Louth Tractors Ltd on Tattershall Way, Fairfield Industrial Estate.
The plans, which have been submitted to East Lindsey District Council, include a sales area of 1,286 square metres, an 83-space car park and cycle bays.
If approved the store will create up to 30 new jobs and would see Louth Tractors Ltd relocating to another part of the industrial estate.

“The ostriches on the town council can't see that Lidl will bring more visitors to Louth.
Lidl have many faults but they represent a dimension on retailing that doesn't exist at present in Louth.
A more positive town council might have suggested consent conditional on Lidl laying out their car park so as to facilitate a 'park & ride' between Tattershall Way and the Bus Station.
That would be good for both local business and the parking situation in Louth.”

“Brilliant news Lidl coming to Louth, perhaps now that we've been designated a food town lots more large outlets will follow creating many much needed jobs, and keeping shoppers local.”

“What are the Louth planners scared of? Perhaps those Councillors who DON'T have businesses in the Town could hold a vote? See what the result is then!”
