TOLLBAR Sixth Form College is investing £600,000 in new facilities, including building a new ten-classroom teaching block.

The college has more than 240 firm applications from students wishing to study there from September.

Combined with the current Year 12 intake of more than 100, it will bring the college close to capacity.

Contracts for the new teaching block have already gone out to tender and work is expected to be completed by February next year.

Other plans include a purpose-built, sound- proof recording studio, and a new media room complete with £70,000 of equipment, including 20 computers, the latest software, a green board, digital cameras, camcorders and microphones.

A music technology room will be completed in the existing sixth form block.

Sixth form students will benefit from a new social area, including a roof-top terrace.

From September, the college will also offer a free bus service for students who live in Louth or in the villages along the A16 route.
