New Dial-A-Ride volunteers will make a big difference
"THEY are like royalty to me. I don't know what I would do without them"
That's the opinion of a regular user of the Dial-A-Ride service – which is on the hunt for more volunteers to help drive forward the worthy charity.

Since the 1980s, Dial-A-Ride has been providing free escorted transport to the elderly and people with disabilities who struggle on public transport or cannot afford taxis. The Grimsby-based charity has made a big difference to the lives of those it helps and is now appealing to the community to find volunteer drivers.
Co-ordinator Midge Curry, who has worked for the charity for more than three years, said: "We currently have 25 drivers using 12 buses and make more than 50,000 journeys a year.

"More drivers are always needed, especially now as four volunteers are leaving after getting full-time jobs.
"You don't need a special licence to drive for us. All you need is to be over 21 and have two years of driving experience.
"Some of our drivers do one day and some do five. Anything you can offer would make a big difference.
"If we got seven or eight new volunteers, we could get another vehicle to increase our service in North East Lincolnshire.
"Our drivers do more than normal bus drivers, such as helping customers to and from their door."
Volunteer driver Janine Patchett, 37, from Westhill Road, in Grimsby, said: "I have been here for just over a year now.
"It's very rewarding and having more volunteers would definitely make a real difference.
"I do three days a week, but you can do as much or as little as you can. It all makes a difference."
Regular customer Joan Doy, 84, of Aylesby, added: "They are like royalty to me.
"I don't know what I would do without Dial-A-Ride.
"All the volunteer drivers go out of their way to help you.
"If they could get more drivers, they could put on more buses and help even more people who cannot get out themselves."
