Newcomer Gorman lifts the Grannie Cup

GRANDMOTHERS at Cleethorpes Golf Club took to the course to battle it out for the Grannie Cup.

The silverware was first presented by the late Floss Brown in 1979.

Her daughter Susan came over from her home in Spain to present it to this year's winner Judith Gorman.

Judith, whose grandson is only 15 months old making her the club's 'newest nannie' and finished with a net score of 74.

Three other ladies posted the same score but on exact handicap, Lynda Tasker took second place with Susan Colvin third and Maureen Meadows fourth.

A separate medal was held on the same day, with Jo Gibbons posting a net 70 to win.

Meanwhile, Ashley Fletcher took the honours in the Junior Championship.

The youngster carded a score of 76 to win the gross cup ahead of runner-up Jordan Reilly on 79.

The net cup was won by Tom Pilter with a score of 81-15=66. James Wallace came second with 92-24=68 and Zack Mawer third with 81-8=73.

The nine-hole competition was won by Jack Woodhams, with Connie Joyce second and Lillie Stabels in third.

At the club's presentation evening, various cups were presented to winners from throughout the past year.

Zack Mawer won the Peter Lamb Trophy, James Wallace won the Monday Shield, the Youth Development Cup was won by Ashley Fletcher following a six-shot drop, with the Club Handicap prize going to Jack Garland.
