IN the vast majority of cases, people wish to enjoy a night out in Cleethorpes, or any other town or city, without encountering trouble of any kind.

Yes, there are a mindless minority who seem to make it their life's work to go out, down large quantities of alcohol and cause havoc – with innocent people possibly getting caught up in the inevitable crossfire.

But on the whole that is not the case and it is such a shame that the publicity that the mindless minority inevitably attract can put the sensible majority off the thought of a night out.

It is vital, therefore, that all can be done to try to make sure the minority are dealt with and stopped – ensuring others can enjoy themselves.

The night-time economy in any town or city is huge, it employs thousands upon thousands of people and brings in massive revenues takings – to say nothing of the Government's cut when you look at the amount of VAT that is now levied on alcohol.

The country would certainly be a much poorer place if everyone decided to stay at home!

So it is in everyone's interests to promote Britain's towns and cities as safe, fun and attractive places in which a trouble-free night out can be enjoyed.

Have you been a victim of violence on a night out?

Do you go out in Cleethorpes, Grimsby, Louth or Immingham and if so, what do you think?

“Have rarely gone out to the meat markets in Grimsby and Cleethorpes, have no intention to and would go under duress.
Why would I want to dodge the piles of vomit, whilst waiting for an extortionately priced cab because the public transport system here is so dire, after listening to hoards of screaming foul mouthed patrons of venues such as those found here?
Am afraid am more fond of smaller, classier jazz clubs that play real live music (not regurgitated, high decibal, electronically synthesised noise) and Grimsby and Cleethorpes, as far as I know, lacks in these.
If you only have meat markets on offer then am afraid animals are what you are going to get!”

“I was in a pub in town the other night .. first time for ages. And although there was no trouble while I was there, what struck me was the abrasive loudness, and the bad language (used without any sense of shame) by others in the place. Was a time, the 'f' word was never used in the presence of women, and that unspoken rule - unofficially policed by men themselves - was set in stone! Now, even the women use it.”

“"thousands upon thousands of people" - how many pubs, clubs, taxis, kebab houses, police riot vans and ambulances are there in Cleethorpes to employ all these people???”

“Why is Cleethorpes / Grimsby much worse than bigger towns / cities such as Sheffield and Leeds. There is more of this violent crime in a town of 140000 people than in areas where the population exceeds a million people.”

“'So it is in everyone's interests to promote Britain's towns and cities as safe, fun and attractive places in which a trouble-free night out can be enjoyed' says the Editor. The conditions he describes for promoting towns and cities certainly rules out Cleethorpes. 'Safe and Trouble Free' ? In your dreams.”
