Overseas club still interested in Grimsby Town's Simon Ford
GRIMSBY Town's bosses have "a few irons in the fire" if Simon Ford departs for foreign fields.
The defender is in his second spell with the Mariners but, after re-joining at the start of the season, is yet to make an appearance for the club this time around.

After making the 31-year-old available for a move, joint boss Paul Hurst admits that an overseas club have been tracking the centre-half.
"There is potential for Simon to go out but that's been going on a while and is getting to the point where I'm not sure it's going to happen," said Hurst.

"I'm not going to name the club, but there has been a bit of interest shown in him, although it's not progressing from where it was a couple of weeks ago.
"It's a club from abroad, not the Conference, but we've said that we would be prepared to let him go.
"It's dragging on and we're coming around to the fact that he may remain with us, which is fine."
Any move for Ford would leave the Mariners with just two recognised centre-backs – Shaun Pearson and Ian Miller – after Nathan Pond's loan spell ended last month.
"It's an area we would have to look at, there's no getting away from that," confirmed Hurst.
"We will act upon that if anything happens with Simon first – we've got a few irons in the fire.
"His lack of matches hasn't really been any fault of his own, it's just been the form of the players who have been in there.
"Initially, it was Shaun and Pondy and then Dusty (Miller) was waiting in the background – he's come in and been excellent.
"With Simon, a concern with him is that he hasn't played all season. Yes, he has trained pretty much every day and has played a couple of Reserve games, but it's a step up, physically and mentally.
"He's an experienced player and I'm sure he'd get through, but that is a slight concern for us."
