TWO PE teachers are testing their fitness as they prepare to run one of the most iconic marathons.

Oasis Academy Immingham teachers Mark Morris, 37, and Hannah Smith, 24, will run the gruelling London Marathon, on April 21, in aid of Whizz-Kidz, a charity that gives disabled children the chance to lead a more independent life.

They hope to raise £1,400 each and cannot wait to be among the top runners and celebrities in the race, as well as seeing the sights of London.

Mark and Hannah have been training hard and are currently running 14 miles a week at the school fitness suite as well as running outside.

Mark, who is also the academy's healthy schools co-ordinator, has run the marathon twice before.

"I am really looking forward to it," he said. "It's a wonderful location to run and the crowd keeps you going.

"It is tough and I am already getting blisters from training, but you just need to keep going because it's for a really good charity."

Hannah added: "It helps being sporty, so I am not finding the training too hard.

"But it's difficult to run outside when the weather has been so bad lately!

"I hope to run it in about four hours and all my friends and family will be there to cheer me on. Because we are raising money for such a good cause it keeps you going."
