RACING fans are gearing up for the first Brocklesby Park Point-to-Point meeting of 2013.

The action returns on Sunday, February 3, with the South Wold races at Brocklesby Park. The Brocklesby Races will take place on Saturday, March 9.

In both events, the first race is scheduled for 12.30pm.

One horse to look out for is the Brocklesby-qualified Palypso De Creek, owned by Grainthorpe's Jill and Mike Dawson.

The ten-year-old, pictured, won the AGA Ladies Open race at the Yorkshire Area Club Point-to-Point, held at Sheriff Hutton in Yorkshire.

It was the horse's second victory since the gelding was purchased by the Dawsons last spring.

Ridden by Claire Hart, Palypso De Creek relished the testing conditions, going clear two fences from home and staying on well to beat dual Cheltenham Hunter Chase winner Amicelli by 12 lengths on the line. The victory qualified Palypso De Creek for the AGA Ladies Championship Hunter Chase Final, at Stratford in June.

AGA sponsors the series of qualifiers that run at various point-to-point events throughout the season, culminating in the Stratford final. Last year, Claire Hart was the AGA Ladies Champion rider and won an AGA oven worth over £10,000.

Racegoers travel from far and wide for the races at Brocklesby to enjoy the traditional atmosphere and the picturesque setting of Lord Yarborough's estate.
