Perfect start for Cleethorpes boys
CLEETHORPES got their Midlands 4 East (North) season off to the perfect start with a bonus point 25-5 win at Nottinghamians.
Clee started at a frantic pace, cutting through the Notts defence.
-

Strong running from the likes of Matt Stinson, pictured, Scott Brown and Mike Burton was giving them good ground.
It was from one of these runs that the visitors got their first points of the day, Dan McDaid jinking his way through for a try. Stinson missed the conversion, but followed up with a penalty soon after.

Clee should have gone for the kill, but took their foot off the peddle, allowing Notts to spend some time in their half.
A 15 minute period of excellent defending was finally broken when Nottinghamians barged over the line for their first and only try of the day.
Cleethorpes' half-time team talk was focused around intensity, and making sure they put the opposition to the sword. This they did, with three unanswered tries.
The first came from John Marris, showing his pace and power to touch down under the posts, after captain Peter Southwell had taken a quick tap penalty.
The second came from a well won scrum against the head. The ball was spun out for Andy Shaw to score his first try for the club.
The final try of the day again came from Burton.
Adam Fanthorpe kicked through, allowing him to sprint on and touch down for the bonus point victory.
Training is tonight at Lucarly's – 6pm for a 6.30pm start. Cleethorpes 1sts and 2nds both face Skegness at home on Saturday (3pm).
