CLEETHORPES' iconic Pier is set to re-open again on Saturday - and a chart topping music group will start off the celebrations.

Electronic music production team Ultrabeat, best known for their track Pretty Green Eyes, will take to the stage alongside legendary DJ AJ Gibson and resident DJs Dave Beeson, Shane Benett and Ian Topsy.

As reported, the business, previously owned by Kash Pungi, went into receivership in March, and has been closed ever since.

Back in May Bryn Ilsley – owner of Ultimate Angling in Holton-le-Clay and 10 other local businesses – then bought the landmark.

He has now spent about £200,000 transforming it both inside and out, and it is being leased to a new management team headed by Michael Emery.

Darren Cantey, operations director said: "We are delighted to be a part of what is such an iconic structure in the Grimsby and Cleethorpes area.

"It has been a treat with a level of care throughout its restoration and it is our intention to keep that up.

"We understand how much love, attention and affection people have for this venue and we want to treat it with the standard that it deserves."

“theres some jealous people out there. Dont like to see someone doing some good for the area, would you have liked to see it rot and then get demolished!. At least a local business man has invested in the area, created jobs for people while it was getting restored and then leased it to another comapny who again will create jobs for local people! good luck and i hope it works out!”

“The one place I refuse to step foot inside because I will either trip over school bags, stick to the floor or queue for ages for the toilet because an idiot is "sniffing" in there.

I agree with Only Meee, it's had its heyday as a nightclub, now let's bring it back to what it was built for, a family entertainment centre. There are enough nightclubs and pubs with late opening hours so we don't need this iconic building to be another nightclub AGAIN! It's failed several times so why do it again?

    Some people never learn.”

“I wish all involved the best of luck and look forward to viewing it myself. The pier is THE iconic building in Cleethorpes and I hope it is open in the day time too.
Has anyone bought a Postcard of Cleethorpes without a view including the pier?”

“I worked on the refurbishment mainly the toilets a lot of hard work has gone into it. It¿s not just the outside that¿s had a lick of paint everything inside has been treated with a lot of care and attention all the toilets have been retiled new floor, carpets all new lighting repainted, the layout is still the same but the list of things that had to be done is endless. As long as it¿s looked after by the people who drink there and the chavs don¿t smash it up it hopefully its doors will stay open for a long time to come.”

Also be able to walk around not having to think a bottle will be launched at my head..... mmmmmmm nothing will have changed never does... think ill pass thanks.”

“I'd really love to see them totally change the Pier into a local entertainments venue by, for example, replacing the sides with fold-out glass doors, with seating for lunch or afternoon tea, with views up and down the coast. The doors could open on nice summer days and there could be seating outside on renewed decking area, and the venue could rival the Winter Gardens for evening functions... or a good specialist fish restaurant, the likes of which are not available in this area... but I suppose all this would cost far too much... just a thought”

“As suspected a lick of paint and buisness as usual. The pier has so much more potential than just a night club, i think the lack of insight will again see it up for sale within a couple of years.”
