BLADED weapons and cannabis were seized in a drugs raid on a terraced house in Grimsby.

Police forced entry to the property in Alexandra Road at about 8.30am yesterday, after being granted a warrant by magistrates under the Misuse Of Drugs Act.

Once inside, officers discovered the small amount of cannabis, evidence of drug dealing and some "bladed weapons".

The two occupants, a man and a woman, were taken for questioning to Grimsby Police Station.

Speaking at the scene of the raid, PC Leighton Kaye said: "We received some intelligence that drugs were being consumed or sold at the address and we executed a warrant.

"We get a lot of intelligence from residents about drugs, which is extremely helpful to us.

"The more intelligence we get the more we can justify warrants to the magistrates."

A Humberside police spokesman said: "Police carried out a warrant at an address in Alexandra Road under the Misuse Of Drugs Act.

"Once inside, a small quantity of cannabis was located and seized along with evidence of possible drug dealing and some bladed weapons.

"An investigation into the seized items is now underway and two occupants at the address were taken away to be interviewed by police."
