Proposals will save hundreds of thousands of pounds
A NUMBER of proposals have been put forward to help save money.
Among them are:

Cuts to travel expenses.
This is also a national proposal and currently equates to Care Plus spending £350,000 a year.

Cuts to sickness pay and sickness absence.
Currently this equates to Care Plus spending of about £520,000 a year.
The cuts proposed aim to save about £50,000.
The realignment of posts.
Currently the cost of band 8a to band C posts is £1.23 million.
Under proposals, the estimated savings of this during the next financial year, from April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014, would be £62,000.
Move bank staff to a fixed salary point.
Currently bank staff cost Care Plus £380,000.
The proposals aim to save £20,000.
Cuts to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
Currently Care Plus pay for these to be done for each staff member.
A standard DBS costs £26, an enhanced check is £44 and external identification verification checks cost £8.
Plans are for staff to pay for their own, aiming to save £7,000 a year.
To remove long-service awards paid on retirement.
Currently this equates to Care Plus spending £3,000 a year, which would be saved in its entirety.
Cuts to maternity, adoption and paternity leave.
Employees with more than one year's service taking maternity or adoption leave would receive six weeks at 90 per cent of a week's pay and 12 weeks at half pay on top of any statutory entitlement.
For those taking paternity leave, they would receive two weeks at statutory level.
Currently the cost of paying for leave equates to Care Plus spending £80,000
The proposed cuts aim to save £30,000.
