Pub Idol heat six - check out the video now
KNICKERS were airborne, families were reunited and performers were fighting it out for their chance to become Pub Idol 2009 this week.
Twenty-six-year-old Chris Thorpe took top honours this week, impressing the judges in the heat rounds for the second year in a row at Grimsby’s Baileys pub.

Chris Thorpe had the support of his dad Alex Foy.
It was a hard-won battle as the Grimsby DJ attempted another bite at the cherry following a disastrous performance in last year’s final.
However, Tuesday night saw Chris impress the judges once more, wowing them with his version of The Calling’s Wherever You Will Go.
But it was while singing D:Ream’s Things Can Only Get Better that Chris really took the stage by storm, leaping into the crowd to soak up the adoration from his fanclub.

“last night was a fantastic night! well done to rachael and chris, i said from the start you was the winners and i predicted correctly! you both deserved it! i was in this heat myself and it was a very high standard night. the competition is getting high and last night was the best night EVER.
the two finalists deserve what they got, they wowed the crowd and blew us all away! you were amazing and i look forward to supporting you in the final.
well done to all the competitors and i wish you all look for the future xx”

“Why do people always have to moan, get a life. This is the second year my friend has entered and it's clear to everybody who the best singers are on the night, technical problems or not. Which I have to say, I didn't notice any and how did the judges admit early on in the night when they don't say anything. Also I'm glad they let as many people enter as possible because some of these contestants may not get a chance to sing in front of friends and family if they limit it and that's what it's all about. All singers did a great job last night and hope there are 20 in next week, the more the merrier. Well done Chris.”

“Another good show, looking forward to perhaps 20 people in the next heat. Someone else commented on the unfairness to the competitors in the later heats, as two went through out of seven in heat one, and I think I agree with them that the ground rules need sorting and if there is a sound / technical problem as the judges admitted early on last night then surely its fair that that contestant be allowed to sing again later.”
